Health Insurance for Individuals & Families
Not on Medicare yet? The Affordable Care Act Marketplace offers comprehensive health coverage for individuals and families — and you may qualify for subsidies that make it more affordable than you think.
Is This Right for You?
The ACA Marketplace is designed for people who don't have access to affordable employer-sponsored insurance or government programs like Medicare or Medicaid.
Under 65
Individuals and families who are not yet eligible for Medicare.
Income-Based Subsidies
You may qualify for premium tax credits that significantly lower your monthly cost.
Self-Employed or Uninsured
Freelancers, small business owners, or anyone without employer-sponsored coverage.
Life Change Events
Lost a job, got married, had a baby, or moved? You may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period.
Essential Benefits
All ACA Marketplace plans are required by law to cover 10 essential health benefits, ensuring you have comprehensive protection.
Doctor visits and specialist care
Emergency services and hospitalization
Prescription drug coverage
Preventive care and screenings (often free)
Mental health and substance use services
Maternity and newborn care
Pediatric services including dental and vision
Rehabilitative and habilitative services
Many people are surprised to find they qualify for premium tax credits that dramatically reduce their monthly premium — sometimes to as low as $0/month.
Eligibility is based on your household income and size. Kim can help you determine exactly what you qualify for — at no cost to you.
Subsidies are only available through the official Marketplace — not through off-exchange plans. Kim will make sure you're enrolling in the right place.
Understanding Your Options
ACA plans are grouped into four tiers based on how costs are split between you and the insurance company. All tiers cover the same essential benefits.
Bronze
Healthy individuals who rarely use medical care and want the lowest monthly cost.
Silver
Most people — especially those who qualify for cost-sharing reductions (CSR subsidies).
Gold
Those who use medical care regularly and want predictable out-of-pocket costs.
Platinum
People with significant ongoing medical needs who want maximum coverage.
When Can You Enroll?
Open Enrollment Period
November 1 – January 15 (most states)
The main window when anyone can enroll in or change an ACA Marketplace plan. Coverage typically starts January 1.
Special Enrollment Period (SEP)
Year-round (qualifying event required)
Triggered by life events such as losing job-based coverage, getting married, having a baby, moving to a new area, or gaining citizenship.
Medicaid & CHIP
Year-round
If your income qualifies, you can enroll in Medicaid or the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) at any time of year.
Free Consultation
Navigating the Marketplace on your own can be overwhelming. Kim will compare plans side by side, explain your subsidy options, and help you enroll — all at no cost to you.
